Ticket scanning guide

How to scan attendee QR codes and handle backup IDs at the door.

You are the first point of contact for every attendee.

A smooth scan means a great first impression of the event.

QR code scanning

  1. 1Open the Event Reader page from your crew tools.
  2. 2Select the current event from the tiles and start the reader.
  3. 3Point your camera at the attendee's QR code displayed on their check-in pass.
  4. 4The scanner detects the code automatically and verifies the token. No tap needed.

Backup ID path

If the QR code cannot be scanned (broken screen, low brightness, etc.), use the backup ID printed on the attendee's ticket.

  1. 1Tap "Use backup ID" below the scanner to expand the manual entry form.
  2. 2Ask the attendee to show the backup ID on their check-in pass.
  3. 3Type the ID exactly as shown. Letters and numbers only, characters like 0, O, I, and l are never used.
  4. 4Tap "Find user" to look up the attendee, then confirm check-in.

Camera tips

  1. 1Grant camera permission when prompted. The scanner needs it to read QR codes.
  2. 2If the camera won't start, check that no other app is using it and refresh the page.
  3. 3Hold the phone steady about 15–20 cm from the QR code for fastest detection.

Scan results

Valid

The attendee is verified and you can confirm check-in.

Already checked in

The attendee was scanned earlier, no action needed.

Expired

The token has expired. Ask the attendee to regenerate their check-in pass.

Invalid

The QR code is not a valid check-in token. Ask the attendee to open the correct page.

Good to know

If anything goes wrong, the scanner diagnostics panel can help troubleshoot. Tap "Show" at the bottom of the reader to see camera and detection details.
